A Chinese wife has cut off her husband's right hand because of his internet addiction.
Jiang Ming of Chengdu city promised his wife, He Ling, that he would not go on the internet anymore, and would instead spend more time at home to take care of their newborn son.
But after a short time he started to sneak into nearby internet cafes again to have video chats with girls.
"I was on the internet, and suddenly felt a numbness in my right hand. The arrow on the screen stopped moving," says Jiang Ming.
"Then I found that my right hand was on the mouse pad, and blood was shooting out."
In court, the husband pleaded with the judge to release his wife, since he was to blame for breaking his promise.
The court has adjourned and will announce its verdict on another date, reports Chongqing Evening News.

Presumably because if she ends up in jail he has to bring up the newborn single-handed?
Ouch!
* sorry *
I gotta hand it to you Dennis, that was... painful.
I don't hold out much hope for the wife... she hasn't got a leg to stand on....
please don't let this seed become popular. lest it gives my wife some ideas:-)
She needn't worry...I'm sure you're pretty 'armless.... oh no - did I just say that?
Going out on a limb with that comment!
I'm pretty handy with a turn of phrase...
Forewarned is forearmed I always say.
Take double-digit votes for that...
Really humerus!
OK - that gets the thumbs-up...
Nails it on the head?
I've gotta hand it to you...
That comment certainly got 'em digits working overtime, didn't it. If it was leg of chicken, it'd be finger-lickin'
And now you guys have certainly made this thing popular. Send the flowers whilst you can. Tomorrow might never come as I go out on a limb...
Better knuckle down then.
can't. she's already rapped 'em for the last misdemeanour. now what was that for?
This was the funniest exchange of the week, hands down!
Good ole Brit humour, DC. Footloose and fancy free has its moments:-)
I'm keeping an index of it all!
certainly one way to keep your finger on the pulse. Careful you don't file it near the tools. Too risky!
Good thing he wasn't doing something else with that hand at the time.
What else would he be doing with his hand? *looks cow-eyed at the Newsvine audience*
What? He could be, I dunno, writing a letter, eating soup, making shadow puppets.
Woo, dude that had to hurt. I say keep her in jail for a little while, let her cool off. There's no telling what she may chop off next if they let her out of the cooler too soon! Man, what a daily reminder for life...
Gives a all new meaning to why they make left handed mice ! Ouch.... Sure is a good thing he was not using a video cam also, that might have caused a bit more damage I would say !
OMG, wives are really going berserk these days...cutting off penises, hands etc...what on earth is going on? Men beware, women are on the rampage! :o)
their newborn son
This would appear to be the key factor. As my poor suffering husband knows from experience, it is generally not the wisest course of action to piss off your wife either while she is pregnant or for several months after the birth--no telling what could happen. Thus, he was clearly asking for it.
I don't think she should be jailed, just bound over to keep the piece.
Put her in jail, if you break the law, you break the law. It is against British law to cut someone's hand off (unless you're a doctor for medical purposes or such), seems like a no-brainer to me.
Oh yea! She should be jailed, you just can't go around chopping off someones hand even if that someone is you husband. I bet if the husband did the same thing to the wife and chopped off her arm you wouldn't want him on the loose.
Yeah, I'm calling BS on this one. Please. He didn't notice her cutting it off?
"I was on the internet, and suddenly felt a numbness in my right hand. The arrow on the screen stopped moving," says Jiang Ming.
"Then I found that my right hand was on the mouse pad, and blood was shooting out."
What a crock. It's not exactly easy to cut off a hand. He would have noticed...
This story lacks meat. "Suddenly I felt a numbness in my right hand?"
He'd probably notice it if his wife cut off his hand a bit more than that unless he's married to a ninja.
You'd be surprised, when there is quick heavy trauma to the body... it nearly immediately goes numb. When I used to work at an ice cream store, my hand went straight into the blender spindle, hit the bone, severed tendons and wreaked general havoc on my hand. I was surprise to discover that it actually hurt very little for how gruesome the wound was.
Yeah, but putting your hand in a blender is very different from sitting at a computer. If she had struck a blow with enough force to cut off his hand...cutting through bone and all...at the very least he would have *heard* it, not to mention noticed something in his peripheral vision. This story is 100% bogus.
Yeah, I'm calling BS on this one.
I tend to agree with you. It sounds a bit improbable to be little more than a hoax.
Yet, it makes me wonder what people really think about women and the state of male/female relationships that so many people have readily believed it.
unless he's married to a ninja.
And who says he isn't?! Huh?! HUH?! O.O
This story lacks meat.
I would think his hand would be lacking some of that also !
Well maybe:
His wife had a chainsaw
Mouse Sensitivity was on Superslow
Mouse gears were clogged up from years of leaded paint
Server at chat site was so busy so it only appeared the mouse was frozen
other then that, it does sound it bit strange, my wrist is pretty well attached, it would take a fair amount of work to get thru the bone, muscles and everything else to remove it, I think I would notice at that point, unless I had to much Sake....
